Request / authorize full access
Specific instructions on how to request and authorize full online account access (opt-in) to your client's account. Before you begin
You can access clients confidential tax information in MyFTB by filing a Power of Attorney (POA) or Tax Information Authorization (TIA). Once your POA or TIA is active you will automatically be granted limited online account access. You can request full online account access to view additional information and access expanded self-services. You must have your client’s permission to establish a POA or TIA relationship and to receive full online account access.
Full online account access can be requested when you file your POA or TIA by selecting the appropriate option on the form or within the MyFTB web application. You can also request full online account access after your POA or TIA is active in MyFTB from your client’s Overview page.
Once your POA or TIA is active and your full access request has been received, your client will be sent a unique authorization code that can be used to approve the full access request.
Overview of requesting and approving full online account access
You can request full access during the POA/TIA submission process or after it is active.
- During the POA/TIA submission process: Select the Full access option when prompted in MyFTB and if applicable, select Yes in Part V (POA forms) or Part III (TIA form).

Go to ftb.ca.gov/myftb, select Log in to my account and enter your user name and password.
Step 2: Request full online account access
You can request full online account access for any of your POA or TIA clients. You have two timeframes where you can request full access:

Step 3: Request full access during the initial POA/TIA submission.
On the POA form 3520 or the TIA form 3534, check Yes in the section “Request or Maintain Full Online Account Access for Tax Professional”. In MyFTB, select Full in the “Online Account Access” section.
Once we approve your POA/TIA, we will send a letter by U.S. mail to the address we have for your client. The letter will contain a unique authorization code for each representative.

If your client has a MyFTB account and has set their preferences to receive email and/or text notification, they will immediately receive the authorization code electronically.
If the authorization letter was requested on a POA listing multiple representatives, the notice will contain a unique authorization code for each POA that does not have full access.

Full access must be authorized within 30 days of the date on the notice. Either you or your client can approve full access.
