Conflict of interest code
Under California's Political Reform Act, certain public officials and state employees must file a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) to disclose financial interests that could foreseeably affect their official duties. In accordance with the Political Reform Act, each state agency adopts a conflict of interest code that identifies which positions within the organization must file a Form 700. Once adopted, the agency is required to review the conflict of interest code biennially and, if changes are necessary, amend its conflict of interest code with the Fair Political Practices Commission through regulatory action.
2026 Amendment:
On October 07, 2026, the Office Administrative Law approved Franchise Tax Board’s regulatory action to amend its conflict of interest code and filed it with the Secretary of State. This regulatory action will become effective on November 6, 2026.
