Help Using Our Website

If you experience problems with our website, refer to the information below before you contact the webmaster.

Web Browsers We Support

We recommend you use the latest version of the following free web browsers.

For security reasons, developers upgrade web browsers frequently. These upgrades can cause issues with websites. If you experience issues while using a browser’s latest version, try a different browser listed above before you contact the webmaster.

Operating Systems We Support

  • Windows 8
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Vista
  • Macintosh OS X

Effective April 8, 2014, Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP. Microsoft provides Windows XP end-of-support help.

Effective April 2017, Microsoft will no longer support Vista.

Our Online Services

If you use CalFile or MyFTB Account, review what we support above to ensure you get the best web experience.

Some CalFile users experience issues viewing or printing their return in Internet Explorer 8 (or older). We recommend these users upgrade Internet Explorer or use a different browser.

Our Forms

We recommend you use the latest version of Adobe Reader to download, view, and print forms from our website.

Recent versions of Chrome and Firefox use a PDF preview tool that does not work well with our forms. We recommend you disable the browser’s PDF preview tool and enable Adobe Reader by following the instructions below:

  1. In the web address bar, type in about:plugins and press your enter key.
  2. Find Adobe Reader in the plug-in list and select the Enable link. This will automatically disable Chrome’s PDF viewer.

  1. Go to Tools > Options.
  2. In the Options window, select Applications.
  3. Find content type Portable Document Format (PDF).
  4. If the action is Preview in Firefox, select it and change it to Use Adobe Reader (default).
  5. Select OK button.

For Internet Explorer 10 and 11, Microsoft included enhanced security features that are not compatible with Adobe Reader. Adobe provides help if a blank page opens when you select a PDF link in Internet Explorer 10 or 11.
