Add a client

Revoked access

Your client can revoke your access at any time. Once revoked, the client will no longer appear on your client list.

Missing power of attorney (POA) clients

Power of attorney clients may be missing from your client list for one of the following reasons:

Registered with ID other than PTIN or POA declaration does not include your PTIN

If you have an active POA declaration on file for a client and they are missing from your client list, contact us at 916.845.7057.

POA declaration filed before 10/01/2014

MyFTB only includes clients with active POA declarations submitted on or after 10/01/2014. You must submit a new declaration for any active declaration submitted prior to 10/01/2014.

To file a POA declaration, select File a Power of Attorney. For detailed instructions, refer to How To Submit a FTB Form 3520, Power of Attorney Declaration.

After you submit a POA, it displays as Pending on your client list.

If you attach taxpayer authorization when you submit the POA, the Pending status will become Active 10 business days after we approve the POA and notify your client.

If you do not attach taxpayer authorization, once we review the POA, we notify your client by placing a copy in your client’s MyFTB account for their approval. In order for the POA to become active, your client must log in to their MyFTB account and approve the POA.

Client search criteria

By default, all active individual clients display. To find specific types of clients, change the Client List Options to search by client type and client access type.

When you search by POA access type, you can also search for active, pending, or inactive POA statuses.
