Tax Preparer: How to Remove a Representative on an Active Power of Attorney (POA) Declaration
To Remove a Representative on an Active POA Declaration online, log in to MyFTB and follow the “How To” instructions below. If, once you’re logged into MyFTB, you need help with the page you’re on, select the “?” in the upper right corner of that particular page.
- Select the radio button for the type of client you want to search for.
- Select POA from the Access Type dropdown menu.
- The POA Status field will display.
- By default Active will display.
- Select the Search button.
Note: By default, all active individual clients display on the Client List page. Estate, Trust, and Nonresident Group Return client accounts are not available online at this time. From your Client List you can view details of active, pending, and inactive POAs for Estate and Trust clients and manage active POAs. Press enter to show or hide content for Step 3: Select the View Detail link in the Actions column next to the Declaration you to want to edit.
Note: You must have the “Add/Delete” another representative privilege on the POA Declaration to remove yourself or another representative through MyFTB. If you do not have this privilege, you must fax a written request to the POA Revocation fax line at 916.845.9144.
Press enter to show or hide content for Step 5: Select the Remove link in the Action column for the representative you want to remove.
Note: If the representative being removed is the “Primary” representative, you must designate another representative as the “Primary” first. If there is only one representative listed on the POA Declaration, only the Edit link will display. You must revoke the POA Declaration when there is only one representative listed. If the Remove link does not display, you do not have the “Add/Delete” privilege.
Press enter to show or hide content for Step 6: Select the Remove button in the Remove Confirmation window.
- A “Record successfully removed” confirmation message displays at the top of the page.
- Select the Save button to save the changes.
- You will be navigated to the Power of Attorney Detail page to view the changes.
