Payment Options

  • Check, Money Order, Cashier’s Check.
  • Western Union Payments.
  • Web Payment.
  • Credit Card Payment.

Before you select a payment option, read this important information: If your driver license is suspended or revoked and you are making a payment for its release, you must pay the Amount Due with guaranteed funds. Guaranteed funds are money orders/cashier’s checks sent by USPS Overnight Mail and Western Union Payments. Web payments and credit card payments are not considered guaranteed funds. Allow a minimum of four to six weeks for the court or agency to receive your payment. If you need assistance, call a COD representative at 916.845.4064.

To Pay by Check, Money Order, or Cashier’s Check:

  • Make payments payable to Court-Ordered Debt Collections.
  • Write your full name, account number, and billing number on your payment.
  • Mail your payment and the top portion of your notice to:

To Pay by Western Union:

You can pay online, by phone, or in person at one of their worldwide offices. Western Union charges a fee for this service.

  1. To pay online, go to their website.
  2. To pay by phone, call 800.238.5772.
  3. To pay in person, visit the nearest Western Union office. To find an office near you, call 800.238.5772.

When making a payment, be sure to provide the following information:

  • Company name: CA Franchise Tax Board or code city (no spaces): FranchiseTaxBoard.
  • Account number: Enter Court-Ordered Debt account number.
  • Attention: Court-Ordered Debt.
  • Select Urgent for speed option.

How to verify a payment made with guaranteed funds: Once you make your Western Union payment, contact a COD representative at 916.845.4064 to provide your Money Transfer Control Number. This will verify your payment.

To Pay by Web Pay

Information you need:

  • Your COD account number.
  • Billing number on your COD notice.
  • Bank account holder last name.
  • Checking or savings bank account number.
  • Checking or savings bank routing number.

Go to My Court-Ordered Debt (COD) Account – General Information, login to My COD Account (located at bottom of the page), and navigate to Pay Online tab.

To Pay by Credit Card

Information you need:

  • Your COD account number.
  • Billing number on your COD notice.
  • Credit card holder last name.
  • Credit card number.
  • Credit card expiration date.
  • Zip code for billing address.

Go to My Court-Ordered Debt (COD) Account – General Information, login to My COD Account, and navigate to Pay by Credit Card tab.

Official Payments Corporation (OPC) is the credit card payment provider for COD. You can make credit card payments online via the internet or on the phone through an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system.

Internet option:

  • Go to Official Payment's website.
  • Starting from the home page, select “State Payments”.
  • Enter Jurisdiction Code “1584”.
  • For Payment Type, select “Court-Ordered Debt Payment”.

IVR Option:

  • Dial 1.800.272.9829.
  • Select option “2” (State Taxes).
