We are in the process of revising the FTB Pub 1016, Real Estate Withholding Guidelines to correspond to the new real estate withholding regulations, which became effective July 1, 2014. The updated version features a new look which provides a detailed overview of the State of California’s real estate withholding requirements. In addition, this version allows for a more user friendly document compared to the prior questions and answer format. FTB Pub 1016 is used to educate California’s internal and external stakeholders on the most current information pertaining to California’s real estate withholding requirements as well as providing them with the knowledge required to remain in compliance.

We would like to take this opportunity to allow our stakeholders to comment on the publication prior to finalizing. To provide comments about the revised FTB Pub 1016, email us your response by Friday, May 15, 2015. Be sure to enter “FTB Pub 1016” in the subject line. Thank you.
