Advanced Search Tip

You can use Domain on the advanced search page to search in specific folders of content instead of searching our entire website.

Advanced search instructions

  1. Select the search button.

  2. Select the advanced search link.

  3. Enter the words you are searching for in one of the first three Filter your search fields. If you choose to search using the second or third field, remove the word “Search” from the first field.

    Four find results entry fields to either search using all words, an exact phrase, at least one of the words, or without the search words you entered.

  4. In the Domain field under Search features, enter the website address of the content you want to search. See advanced search example below.

  5. Select the Search button.
  6. The search results will return all content within the Domain that contains the words you entered in one of the three Filter your search fields.

Advanced search example

You want to find content related to the new jobs credit in FTB legislative content.

  1. Go to the FTB Legislation page.
  2. Copy the website address without the page name (see highlighted text):

    The highlighted website address above contains the following:

    1. Main website address https://www.ftb.ca.gov
    2. Archive folder
    3. Law sub-folder
    4. Legis sub-folder

    The page name is index.shtml.

  3. Paste the highlighted text (https://www.ftb.ca.gov/archive/law/legis) in the Domain field on the advanced search page.
  4. Enter the search words new jobs credit in one of the first three Filter your search fields. If you choose to search using the second or third field, remove the word "Search" from the first field.
  5. Select the Search button.
  6. The search results will return all content within our legislation folder that contains the words you entered in one of the three Filter your search fields.
