FTB's Free e-file Program Spanish CalFile Ready
Released: March 26, 2009
Sacramento - CalFile, California’s no cost e-file state tax-filing program, is available in both English and Spanish, the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) reminds taxpayers.
“Online options can take the burden out of filing for all California taxpayers,” said State Controller and FTB Chair John Chiang.
Last year, nearly 200,000 Californians filed using English and Spanish CalFile. This year CalFile is available to more than 6 million Californians who qualify to take advantage of the online program’s free benefits. These include fast direct deposit refunds, file-now and pay-later options, ease of use, and immediate confirmation that FTB has received your return. CalFile accepts income of up to $327,000, itemized deductions, and up to 10 dependents. Using CalFile is easy, too. Simply visit FTB’s website www.ftb.ca.gov and follow the instructions.
In addition to Spanish CalFile, FTB’s website features a language tab that offers tax assistance in Spanish and, to a lesser extent, Chinese, Korean, Russian, and Vietnamese.
FTB’s website features more online services such as an online installment agreement request and MyFTB Account. This application allows taxpayers to view their payments and account balance, FTB-issued 1099s, and California wage and withholding information. FTB’s website also offers answers to frequently asked questions, downloadable tax forms, and more tax information.
