Taxpayer Information System Data Retention
September 25, 2017
Purpose of Bulletin
To inform staff and vendors that beginning September 18, 2017, we started the annual Taxpayer Information System (TI) purge process of individual taxpayer data. This purge process is in accordance with FTB’s Legacy System Retention Standards and Definition for individual taxpayers.
FTB’s Legacy System Retention Standards and Definition identifies how long we retain data, ensures the responsible use of data within our systems, and provides security to taxpayer information. We established this data retention standard to comply with the Information Privacy Principles for Individuals.
Our data retention standard informs taxpayers that deletion of their old data is for their protection and security. Although much care is taken to preserve all data, which should be retained under these standards, there may be situations where data is destroyed. Follow your local procedures on how to handle these situations.
