Why did I receive this notice?

We issue a Notice of Tax Return Change when we correct one or more mistakes on your tax return. The information is only for the tax year printed at the top of the notice, and does not include refund or balance information for any other tax year.

What does the notice contain?

  • Tax Year Summary: Shows the revised tax return amounts. Compare them to the amounts on your tax return to see if you agree with our revisions.
  • Adjustment Code(s): Explains why we revised your tax return. There may be more than one revision.

I Agree with the Change

  • You don't need to contact us.
  • Update your records.

I Don't Agree with the Change

Gather

  • Your notice
  • Any relevant tax documents
  • Proof of payment (e.g. cancelled check, transaction number, etc.)
  • Your name, address, and social security number
