November 4, 2015
Purpose of bulletin
To notify staff and the public of the registration changes coming on January 4, 2016, as described in the November Tax News and the Deactivation letter scheduled to start mailing early December 2015.
On July 23, 2015, we suspended new MyFTB, CalFile, and Web Pay registrations. On January 2, 2016, FTB will deactivate all accounts and on January 4, 2016, everyone must re-register under the enhanced registration process.
Everyone must register through the enhanced registration process on or after January 4, 2016. All existing MyFTB, CalFile, and Web Pay accounts, with activity in the last 12 months, will be sent a Deactivation letter in December 2015, explaining the registration process.
Information required at the time of registration is based on the various roles:
- Business Entities
- Tax Preparers
The MyFTB, CalFile, and Web Pay registration process includes mailing a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to the address on file. To complete activation, the PIN must be entered within 21 days from the date of registration.
Advise individuals, tax preparers, and business entities to register early in the tax season, allowing for the mailing of a PIN and final activation of the account.
Advise them to activate the account within 21 days of registering using the user name and password selected during registration, and the PIN we mailed to them. If not used within 21 days, the PIN expires and they will need to start the registration process over. For information on what is required at registration, advise them to go to ftb.ca.gov and select register. For questions about the enhanced MyFTB, have them go to ftb.ca.gov and search for myftb.
