We conduct withholding audits in accordance with California's R&TC Section 19504 to ensure compliance of withholding agents.

As part of the Advocate’s Address[2] to improve transparency and help our stakeholders understand our withholding audit process, we created publication, FTB 936, Nonwage Withholding Audit Process, available online. Our new publication provides information about what you can expect if we select you for a withholding audit.

To access the publication and get more information on withholding, go to ftb.ca.gov and search for nonresident withhold.
