Walk-Through Revivor Appointments in Certain Field Offices

Purpose of Bulletin

To notify staff that effective July 1, 2016, all field offices will implement an appointment process for Business Entity (BE) customers. The process will provide the option to schedule an appointment for a walk-through revivor at any of the field offices.

Background

BE walk-through revivors are one of the most complex issues presented at the field office public counters; these transactions take 1 to 1 ½ hours to complete. The appointment process will ensure timely service and lessen the wait time for BE customers who have scheduled an appointment. Currently, assistance is provided on a first-come-first-served basis; this option will continue to be available for BE customers who do not wish to schedule an appointment.

Additional Information

After we give the walk-through revivor requirements to the BE, and determine the appropriate field office for the walk-through revivor, the assigned collector, or call center employee, will ask them if they would like to schedule an appointment. If they want to schedule an appointment, the assigned collector or call center employee will provide the respective field office appointment phone number.

We will schedule four appointments per day. If a BE representative arrives late for the appointment, they may be asked to reschedule, or follow the current process of taking a number and waiting to be assisted.

Current unit procedures and timeframes for walk-through revivors remain unchanged. The appointment is only an option for BE representatives requesting a walk-through revivor.

Taxpayer Inquiries

Advise BE customers who are requesting a walk-through revivor that they have the option to schedule an appointment, or come in on a first-come-first-served basis. To schedule an appointment advise them to call the number listed below for the appropriate field office between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday:
