Purpose of Bulletin
To notify staff and the public starting February 1, 2016, taxpayers who indicated a preference to receive electronic notifications will receive emails when notices are viewable on MyFTB. In addition, Power of Attorney (POA) representatives will receive email notifications when notices are available for their clients.
With the enhanced MyFTB, taxpayers can elect to receive electronic notification (email and/or text) when a notice is available for viewing in their MyFTB account.
Power of Attorney (POA) representatives who provided their email address on the POA declaration will receive an email notification when one of their clients has a notice available in MyFTB. With very few exceptions, POA representatives will no longer receive a copy of a notice by US mail.
The email notifications prompt the taxpayers and POA representatives to access MyFTB to view their online notices.
Note: Because the email address used for notification is the email address provided on each separate POA Declaration, POA representatives may want to confirm the email address they have on file for each active POA declaration.

Note: Not all notices sent by FTB are viewable on MyFTB. Additionally, notices sent prior to January 1, 2016, are not available unless specifically requested.

Email To Taxpayers:
You have a new notice or document from the Franchise Tax Board available in your MyFTB account. Login at ftb.ca.gov.
If you do not view this notice or document, you may lose important legal and administrative rights described in the notice or document.
If you cannot login to MyFTB, call 800.852.5711 weekdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., except state holidays.
Text to Taxpayers:
FTB Alert: You have a new notice or document available in your MyFTB account. Login at ftb.ca.gov.
Email to POAs:
FTB sent a notice to one or more of your clients. Go to MyFTB Client Notices list at ftb.ca.gov to view the notice. If you are not a tax professional, please contact the taxpayer you represent for a copy of the notice.
You are receiving this notice because you have an active Power of Attorney for an FTB taxpayer.
Electronic notifications advise taxpayers and POA representatives to login to MyFTB to view notices and correspondence. The electronic notifications do not contain any confidential information.
If a taxpayer prefers not to receive electronic notifications, they can login to MyFTB and update their contact preferences. In most instances, POA representatives no longer receive hardcopy notices for individual taxpayer notices.
Tax preparers can call the Tax Practitioner Hotline, 916.845.7057, with any comments or questions. Individuals or businesses can call Taxpayer Services Center Section, 800.852.5711 weekdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., except state holidays.
