Purpose of Bulletin

To inform staff of the New Employment Credit (NEC), and the roll-out of our NEC reservation system.

Background

The NEC is a tax credit for businesses who hire qualified employees to work in a designated geographic area (DGA) beginning on January 1, 2014.

Status

We recently updated our FAQs here.

An interactive map is available where taxpayers can enter an address and determine if it is in a DGA

To claim the credit, the taxpayer must obtain a credit reservation from FTB.  The New Employment Credit Reservation system (NECR) is now available to the public on our website here.

Additional Information

Additional information on the NEC is available on our website. Advise taxpayers they can go to ftb.ca.gov and search for new employment credit.

Taxpayers may also call us at 916.845.3464 weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except state holidays. They can also email questions to GEDI@ftb.ca.gov.
