Purpose of Bulletin
To inform staff of changes to the Power of Attorney (POA) processing procedures and the addition of a new POA fax line for revocations.
In an effort to encourage taxpayers to fax their POAs to us, we gave priority processing to faxed POAs. However, in order to provide better service to all taxpayers, we changed our POA processing procedures to follow the way we process incoming fax and paper correspondence.
Paper and Faxed POA Worked in Order Received
Starting November 1, 2013, all POAs (both fax and paper) will be processed on a first come, first served basis to ensure we provide the best possible service for all our customers.
The processing timeframe for both types of POAs is 15 working days.
New POA Revocation Fax Line
Beginning November 1, we will have a special fax line dedicated to POA revocations. Having a dedicated revocation fax line will ensure we maintain our five working days processing timeframe for revocations. For more information on how to revoke a POA, see Retention or Revocation of a Prior POA, in the FTB 3520 instructions.
The POA Revocation fax number is: 916.845.9144.
Regular POAs faxed to this number will be processed under our normal POA processing timeframes.
