Released: November 26, 2007

The Franchise Tax Board (FTB) today announced that the public is invited to attend FTB's annual Taxpayers' Bill of Rights hearing later this month.

"The Franchise Tax Board welcomes and encourages taxpayer participation in shaping California's income tax laws. I urge interested individuals to attend and share their ideas," said State Controller and FTB Chair John Chiang.

This year's hearing will occur as part of FTB's board meeting scheduled for:

Time/Date: 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2007.

Location: Franchise Tax Board, 9646 Butterfield Way, Sacramento, California, in the Gerald H. Goldberg Auditorium.

The hearing provides taxpayers a chance to present proposals to change existing state income tax laws, and to improve FTB's publications or services.

FTB requests that taxpayers planning to make presentations submit a written statement before the hearing. Recommended changes to the tax laws should include the appropriate sections of the California Revenue and Taxation Code and the proposed change. Taxpayers may send their statements to:
