  4. I no longer own the vehicle. What do I need to do?

    Complete the Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability (REG 138). Enter the date the vehicle was no longer in your possession. Take the completed form to your local DMV office or mail it to us in the envelope we provided with the billing notice.

  5. My vehicle is no longer located in California. What do I need to do?

    On the Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability (REG 138):
    • Check the box labeled out of state.
    • Enter the date the vehicle left California.
    • Sign and date the form.

    Take the form to DMV or mail it to us in the envelope we provided with the billing notice.
