General Information
FTB offers a voluntary program for filing paperless Schedules K-1 (565 or 568). Commercial software to properly format these schedules is limited. To help you submit error-free on the first attempt, we provide K-1 TestWare to test your files before sending them to the FTB. This ensures that your files will pass our mainframe edit program and we won't be forced to send them back to you for correction and re-submission.
K-1 TestWare includes two programs:
- K-1 Convert - converts your files to a fixed length format.
- K-1 Verify - performs data integrity edits (but, no calculations of any kind) and provides an itemized error report in the event any of your files fail to verify.
You can download the K-1 TestWare for the taxable years listed below. You will need a ZIP extraction utility to use these files.
Test Files
You do not need to submit a test file to us if:
- You use K-1 TestWare and
- The files pass K-1 Verify. Files that pass K-1 Verify will also pass our mainframe edits. Exceptions: media failure or duplicate files.
Hardware / Software Requirements
You can use this personal computer (PC) based program if you submit your files on CDs or diskettes. For more information see K-1 TestWare - Frequently Asked Questions.
