       Transmitting individual e-file returns is a fairly easy process. The FTB receives e-file returns in a variety of ways; however, FTB receives most of the returns filed by tax preparers indirectly.

Indirect transmission is when a preparer transmits returns to a software company. The company, in turn, transmits the information to FTB.
